Workers and the Environment

Let's Talk About Workers and the Environment! Workers rights and good workers benefits and working conditions are important issues, as is the environment and many other social and political issues, but schools are to teach children and young adults to seek information, think with careful evaluation, and make their own decisions. Teachers who are activists rather than professional educators are a bane to the profession. There is no place for political and social activism in the schools, no matter how exciting and fun the memories of the 60's may be for some. Trying to turn math classes into ecology activism classes, and turning schools hallways and teachers' rooms into endlessly contentious places of politics and controversy is uncollegial and unprofessional.
